双赢调解事务所STAY OUT OF COURT
Confidential, Time-saving, Fair & Money-saving

First mediation firm to focus on marriage, divorce and family in the US Washington metropolitan area.

Divorce360.com (now wevorce.com) found staggering results in their 2008 survey: when filing divorce through courts, couples with at least one child spend from USD 53,000 to 188,000, including legal fees, financial advisory fee, consultation fee and fees associated with post-divorce housing arrangement. If assets are not clearly divided and child custody is also involved, the amount of time and energy needed will be even harder to estimate. In addition to time and money, the cold nature of court procedures further puts couples and children under tremendous pressure, furthering the psychological harm they suffer.

Especially in cases of divorce, far too many people, including children of all ages, suffer unnecessary anguish and trauma because people do not know what family mediators can do. All over the U.S.A. and in most parts of the world, family mediators can help people make their decisions, put them in writing, and avoid adversarial litigation.

Family mediation is private and confidential. Mediators are required to be impartial. Our role is to help people negotiate constructively and create solutions that work for them in their unique circumstances. Isn’t that the best way to resolve family problems?

  • MD-VA-DC Certified Family Law Mediator
  • Certified Level 1 & 2 Clinical Training Gottman Method Couples Therapist (GMCP)
  • Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (CPDPE)

  • 2017 Outstanding Teacher of Washington Metropolitan Area

Over the past 25 years, I have been providing family and marriage services, with case experience of over 10,000 hours and helping over 1,000 families.

The first and only firm in the US Washington Metropolitan area provides marriage and divorce win-win mediation services for Chinese families. In launching the federal government's project on 甜蜜幸福之家 , I have seen countless couples part ways and many once-happy families become broken, but have also witnessed many couples that have undergone hardship together ending up reconciliation and taking their relationship t the next level of happiness. All these point to the need of increasing the common knowledge of marriage and family, as well as removing hidden risk for marriages, in order to build and maintain marriage on a solid and pure basis. For this, I conduct public courses on "7 rules of Happy Marriage", "How to cultivate emotionally intelligent children" and "How to Co-Parent after Divorce".

Initial Consultation
There is no charge for a phone consultation (30 minutes) about whether family mediation would be helpful for you and the other person or people involved in decision-making.

Hourly Rate for working with one mediator
Our standard rate is $250 per hour, with sessions usually lasting 2 hours. For many couples two or three 2-hour sessions (plus homework) are enough. Mediation services include time in meetings, time writing drafts of Agreements, and non-trivial amounts of time used in phone and email discussions. Well-prepared couples with no minor children sometimes need only one face-to-face meeting and a little follow-up by email and phone.

Hourly Rate for working with two co-mediators
Our standard rate is $350 per hour, with sessions usually lasting 2 hours. You may choose a team of one male and one female mediator, or two males, or two females.

Flat Fee For Up To Ten Hours
Our flat fee for up to 10 hours working with one mediator is $2,000. This usually turns out to be about 6 hours of face-to-face mediation and about 4 hours of time writing your agreement and checking details by email and phone — a $2,500 value for only $2,000. The flat fee must be paid in full at the end of the first meeting to qualify for this rate. If you complete your agreement and use less time than 10 hours, we refund the difference between $2,000 and what you would have paid at our normal hourly rate. For example, if you paid $2,000 in advance and then needed only 4 hours of meeting time and 2 hours of writing time (6 hours total at $250/hour = $1,500), then we would refund $500 ($2,000 paid in advance minus $1,500 for 6 hours = $500). If you used 8 hours or more for mediation, there would be no refund, because the normal fee for 8 hours is $2,000.

Which Rate Is Best for You?
You can make that decision at the end of your first session.

Low-Income Clients
Our group includes mediators who are willing to accept lower fees from clients with low incomes.
